Smart Cars – A Brief and Intriguing History
Without doubt Smart cars have revolutionised the automotive industry and have revitalised the way in which manufacturers engineer their cars. We often hear about how the government has increased the pressure for car manufacturers to build cleaner and more eco-friendly vehicles to assist the environment. This has been the case for the past few years, but Smart needed no government intervention; they created their now used Smart cars very much with the environment in mind and did so in a way that would make buyers sit up and take notice. When the first used Smart car was introduced, it was very much a shock to the system given the sheer size of the vehicle and how different it was from the rest of the pack. Surely this was not to be taken seriously – was maybe one of the first questions that popped into the heads of people close enough to see the vehicle in all its glory. Well indeed this was a design that was to be taken very seriously and it set a benchmark that other car manufacturers would be forced to follow in the following years. Nowadays there are many cars other than the original used Smart that meet strict economy and emissions criteria; but Smart are proud in the knowledge that they were indeed the first to get their designs off the production line and into the market. Since then, the brand, owned by Mercedes-Benz, has gone from strength to strength and various different models have been introduced along with accompanying trim levels. The future may be all about the economy and electric cars etc, but it was Smart that took the first steps to eco-friendly vehicles when they introduced the very first Smart car. This is one manufacturer that can well provide value and tick all the boxes regarding Co2 emissions.

Smart cars will be pretty valuable in the future, seriously.
You wouldn’t believe how many Smart cars can be found in Berlin. They’re like bikes in Amsterdam.
